The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts was created by Ordinance 2012-01, to encourage and support arts and culture in the City of Royal Oak. 

The Commission is composed of seven voting members who have experience or interest in the propagation, creation, design, performance, instruction, or study of the arts. The members shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city commission. One of the seven voting members shall be a member of the city commission. The city manager or their designee shall serve as an ex officio non-voting member of the commission. The members will serve for a term of three years.

The commission meets as needed.

Members who serve three full consecutive terms may be reappointed at the discretion of  the city commission.
