The purpose of the Environmental Advisory Board shall be to advise and assist the environmental sustainability efforts of all city staff, boards, and commissions, and community members. The Environmental Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the city commission on all issues concerning city environmental sustainability efforts defined as, any policies, programs, projects, initiatives, or events related to the energy waste reduction, climate, air quality, water, waste, resilience, and/or other sustainability issues that improve quality of life and protect the environment.

The board is composed of twelve voting members (one of whom shall be a member of the city commission) who shall be residents appointed by the city commission for three-year terms. Students are eligible to sit on this board.

The board meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month (September through May).

Members who serve three full consecutive terms may be reappointed at the discretion of the city commission.
